Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LLMSW

“Persistence and Resilience only come from having been giving a chance to work through difficult problems” ~ Gever Tulley

Mental health is a journey, not a destination; and not everyone’s path looks the same, as we all have challenges.

I attended Walden University where I received my Master of Social Work and certificate in Social Work: Military. I have over 10 years of experience working with young and mature adults in various settings including Intervention Centers, hospitals, and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). My approaches to therapy vary: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-focused Therapy; maintaining a client-centered focus. Exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. I have experience working with clients facing challenges with anxiety, depression, stress-management, geriatric and seniors – including dementia.  My work has been with individual therapy, group therapy, treatment plans, and providing resources.

I am passionate about meeting my clients where they are in the moment, it is in that moment where true understanding begins to blossom. Ultimately, my passion lies in building genuine relationships through attentive presence. I am always open to gaining knowledge and discovering new ways to help my clients.

Shlonda L. is available for virtual and in person appointments at our Warren location.
